**New Activity** In addition to our regular monthly meetings, The Conestoga Chapter is starting a new series of "Monthly Social Dinners" that are informal get-togethers that will be fun and usually held the 2nd Wednesday of the month starting at 6:30 pm. These will be held at various restaurants along the Front Range. Generally, people will be there until at least 8:00 pm, so you can even come late and have dessert or a drink. Attendance will vary from a handful to a couple dozen club members and/or guests. Weather permitting, PLEASE DRIVE YOUR STUDEBAKER!!!! These are not only social gatherings, but also opportunities to exercise your Studebaker as well as show it off to the public!

Sunday, 1/27/08 - Chili Cook-Off at the Arvada City Hall(8101 Ralston Road, Arvada, CO. Enter at the Police Station 1/2 block north of Ralston Road at Ammons Street.) Bring a crock-pot full of your favorite or special chili recipe. Chilis will be judged and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes will be awarded.

SATURDAY, 5/17/08 (8:00 am - 4:00 pm) - VMCCA 26th Annual Car Show in Canon City, Colorado at Holy Cross Abbey Grounds on E. Hwy. 50. We will have dinner in Penrose after the show. Swap meet, car corral and craft booths. Registration: $15.00 per car. We will meet in the Wal-Mart parking lot in Canon City before the show so that we can enter and park together. Caravan from Denver area: meet at the Home Depot parking lot on Arapahoe & I-25 at 6:15 am. Early registration is $15.00; it will be $25.00 on the day of the show.

Sunday, 6/1/08 - Annual Birthday Celebration at Mt. Vernon Country Club; meet at 10:00 at Heritage Square to caravan to MVCC, seating at 11:00, departure at 12:30 to Catherine and Ray Petros' home for a short business meeting, birthday cake, and car-talk. Adults - $19.00, children 11 & under - $9.50. RSVP to Ray Petros by 5/25/08. RSVP form and number will be in the May Western Outlook Newsletter. This year we are celebrating the introduction of the Lark series in 1958.
6/11/08 - Monthly Social Dinner, 6:30 pm. Yazoo BBQ Company, 9555 E. Arapaho Rd., Centennial; located in the southeast corner of the Home Depot shopping center on the north side of Arapahoe Rd., 2 blocks east of I-25. Yazoo is Deep South Style Dry Rub BBQ Smoked over Pecan Wood for 12 hours. Entrees include St. Louis Style Pork Ribs, Beef Brisket, Rib Tips, Chicken, Pork Shoulder & Catfish. Sides include Fried Pickles, Green Beans, Potoato Salad, Coleslaw, Mac & Cheese, Hush Puppies, Smoked BBQ Beans, etc. Dinners range from $6 for a sandwich to $19 for a full rack of ribs. Sunday 6/29/08 (10:00 am) Tour the City of Boulder Hydro-Electric and Fresh Water Treatment Plants in Boulder Canyon followed by a potluck picnic at Betasso Preserve. (Special thanks to club member Tim Traibush for helping put this event together on short notice.)

Sunday, 9/28/08 - Fall Color Tour with lunch. Cache La Poudre Canyon. Club members & their guests will meet in the Greystone Castle Hotel parking lot (NE corner of 120th Ave. & I-25) at 9am. We will caravan up to McDonald's located at the I-25 & Hwy. 14 interchange in Ft. Collins to meet with northern Colorado members. From there we will drive Hwy. 14 through Ft. Collins and then up the Cache La Poudre Canyon to enjoy, what will hopefully be, a wonderful array of fall colors. We will stop for lunch in either Gould (Howling Coyote Cafe) or Walden (Antler Inn & River Rock Cafe), depending upon the weather and our over-all travel time. From our luch destination you may either return via Hwy. 14 through the Cache La Poudre Canyon or via Hwy. 125 south to Hwy. 40 through Winter Park and then back to Denver via I-70. Thursday, 10/2/08 - Sunday, 10/5/08 Westminster Mall Show. Conestoga's annual display of our Studebaker cars & trucks inside the Westminster Mall. Vehicle move-in occurs at 9pm on Wednesday, Oct. 1st and move-out is on Sunday, Oct. 5th at 6pm. This is the only event each year which raises money for the Conestoga Chapter and requires we show a minimum of 30 vehicles in order to receive our compensation. We encourage you to sign up to show your vehicle(s) early so we can be assured of a great show. Show signs are available for a $25.00 refundable deposit and must be requested by August 31st to be made in time for the show. All requests should be made to Christof Kheim at ckheim@yahoo.com. Sunday, 10/26/08 - Lunch 12:00 pm followed by tour of Denver Aquarium. We will meet outside the Downtown Aquarium, 700 Water Street (for directions, visit www.downtownaquariums.com ), at 10am for our group reservation. Ticket costs are as follows: Adults 12-64yo $11.95 each; Seniors 65+yo $ 8.95 each; Children 2-12yo $ 6.95 each. (These are discounted group rates and we must have a minimum of 15 individuals to qualify. In order to secure the lower ticket prices, the club must have confirmed reservations and pay for the entire group in advance.) At 12:30 we will depart the Aquarium for lunch at the Blue Bonnet Cafe Mexican Restuarant, 457 South Broadway, just south of Alameda Ave. on the west side of Broadway. Saturday 11/22/08 - Thanksgiving Luncheon to be held at the Harold E. LeMay Museum & Club Auto Colorado 12:00 noon. in Lakewood, a 15,000sq.ft. facility housing a variety of vintage and modern automobiles. We will meet SATURDAY Nov. 22nd for our traditional potluck meal, followed by our monthly meeting & nomination of 2009 club officers. We will be dining among Packard's, Corvette's, Ferrari's and many other interesting and exotic cars.
(SATURDAY NOT SUNDAY). The club will provide roast turkey, baked ham, table service and drinks. Club members are asked to bring appetizers, salads, side dishes and desserts to share.
